‧Alternative Art Spaces -
A Continuous Study on Alternative Art Spaces in Chinese Speaking Regions of Asia: Taiwan

An extension to the publication 3 Cities: A Study of HK Alternative Art Community (Parallel with Beijing and Singapore) cum a series of exhibition and forums conducted in early 2009, the author and the researcher of 3 Cities, Tse Yin Mo, was invited as an artist in residency to organize an exhibition, as well as to study the similar circumstances regarding the Alternative Art Spaces in Taipei, Tainan and Gaoxiong in fall 2009. An open conference with the responsible government officials to the culture, hosts of various venues and the public was conducted as well during her visit in Taiwan. The fruitful studies and observations will be compiled and shared in this issue.

‧另類藝術空間 -
亞洲華語地區另類藝術空間之持續探索:台灣

繼2009年初出版及發表了研究著作:《三城:另類藝術社群(香港/北京/新加坡)》暨一系列展覽及研討會後,2009年11月,《三城》作者謝燕舞,應台灣竹圍藝術工作室之邀,以藝術家駐場形式在當地舉辦相關文件展覽,並藉此考察了台北、台南及高雄的另類空間/替代空間發展情況;期間更與當地政府文化部官員、不同地域空間主持人及公眾,舉行一次公開討論座談會。本專題將總結及分享是次台灣之行的所觀所得。


‧The Feature -
A summary of an open forum initiated by Lam Hiu Tung on “Why Exhibition” - the multi-layered interpretation of Contemporary Art Exhibition held at HK Reader Bookshop.

The Hong Kong artist and art exhibition curator, Lam Hiu Tung, was invited again to conduct a forum on “Why Exhibition? – the multi-layered interpretation in contemporary exhibition” in HK Reader Bookshop on 31 July 2009, which was a continued discussion following the thematic solo exhibition “Chinabear and Chinaman” held previously in April 2009. The forum evoked a vague discussion on the issue about the significance of an artwork and “art products” derived from an artwork.

繼2009年4月主辦的主題展覽「熊人」後,2009年7月31日,策劃單位再次邀請香港藝術家及藝術展覽策劃人林曉東,於序言書室舉辦專題研討會:「
為何要藝術展覽?─淺談當代藝術展覽的多重意義」,引發了有關對藝術品乃至藝術衍生產品的討論議題。


‧Arts Education -
- What’s New in Hong Kong?

Brief introduction on “Travel to Learn in the City” – An Experimental Visual Arts Education Scheme (sponsored by Quality Education Fund (QEF))

“Travel to Learn in the City” is an arts education programme running for one and half year, comprising a series of lectures, exhibition tours and workshops on Learning Art Appreciation, which will be kicked off in May 2010! D’ART is appointed to conduct the research on this project and compile the conclusive publication as the report of "Travel To Learn in the City". In this article you will have a brief introduction on the insightful concept of the project, as well as the sharing extracted from the discussions on the development of the Arts Education in Hong Kong among the guest speakers, frontline Visual Arts teachers and the researcher respectively.
This project is organized by 1a space and sponsored by Quality Education Fund.

- What’s (interesting) outside Hong Kong?

A Direct Tour Report on 2010 NAEA National Convention, Baltimore, USA: Art Education and Social Justice on 14-18April 2010, Baltimore, MD, USA

Researcher of D’ART is going to participate in this annual giant convention for art education in the US and reporting on direct what is new and interesting happening outside Hong Kong!

簡介《城市遊學─視覺藝術教育實驗計劃》(由優質教育基金資助)

《城市遊學》是一項為期一年半之藝術教育計劃項目,將於本年(2010年)5月正式展開!當中包括特別為了「學習藝術評賞」而設計、舉辦之一系列之專題講座、展覽參觀,以及工作坊等。 D’ART為此計劃之特約研究單位,並為其報告刊物「城市遊學」之編輯統籌。本文將為讀者展譯此計劃當中的前瞻性理念,以及摘要記錄計劃開展前,研究員與嘉賓講者、前線老師們,分別就香港藝術教育發展所討論的分享要點。
此計劃由1a空間主辦、優質教育基金資助。

D’ART研究人員將遠赴美國,參與此一年一度盛大的藝術教育國際會議,並直擊報導香港以外新奇有趣之所見所聞。

D’ART A Bi-Monthly Bulletin for Hong Kong Contemporary Art
*D’ART is a non-profit making organization aiming at analyzing and promoting contemporary art culture in Hong Kong through conducting forums and researches, publishing as well as organizing art events/exhibitions. D’ART is also the name of a bi-monthly bulletin which attempts to illustrate the contour of Contemporary Art in Hong Kong by initiating discourses and archiving open discussions on Artworks, Artists and Events/Exhibitions organized by the Alternative Art Space/Art Venues for Hong Kong art culture. *D’ART is a compound noun borrowed from French words: “De” and “Art”. “De” in French often means “of” or “from”, which is used to combining with the definite article to produce a contracted form. Thus the word D’ART implies that something / somebody “of”, “from” Art.

*D’ART,是一個藉著舉辦講座和研究、出版,以及策劃藝術活動/展覽,旨在分析和推廣香港當代藝術文化之非牟利組織。 D’ART,亦是一份試圖透過論述及記錄,香港另類空間/藝術場所舉辦有關藝術品、藝術家和活動/展覽之公開討論,建構香港藝術文化,點描香港當代藝術輪廓之雙月刊名稱。 *D’ART,是由法語“De”及“Art”借取而成之複合名詞。“De”在法語中解作「…屬於」或「由…而來」之意,往往與別的具體的字辭組合成義。D’ART,借喻某物、某人與藝術有關,或因藝術而來。
